Your privacy is critically important to us. At Gripped, we have a few fundamental principles:

Who We Are and What This Policy Covers
Gripped is a marketplace platform operated by BizTech Solutions LLC that connects teachers and students. Teachers can create classes, set pricing, and manage enrollment. Students can discover and subscribe to classes. When a class is completed and attendance is confirmed by the teacher, payments are processed through Stripe — funds are transferred from the student to the teacher, with Gripped retaining a platform fee.
Gripped acts solely as a facilitating platform. We are not a party to the class itself, and we do not employ teachers or act as an educational institution. Our role is to provide the technology that enables teachers and students to connect and transact.
This Privacy Policy applies to information we collect about you when you use:
- Our websites, including grippedapp.com (production) and grippedapp.dev (staging/non-production);
- The Gripped web and mobile applications; and
- Any other Gripped products, services, and features available on or through our websites.
Throughout this Privacy Policy, we'll refer to our websites, applications, and services collectively as "Services." This policy currently applies to users in the United States.
Children's Privacy — Users Under 13
Gripped does not permit individuals under the age of 13 to create accounts or use our Services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. During registration, we verify age eligibility and block accounts that do not meet this requirement. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. Information We Collect
We only collect information about you if we have a reason to do so — for example, to provide our Services, to process payments, to communicate with you, or to improve our platform.
We collect information from three sources: information you provide to us directly, information collected automatically through your use of our Services, and information from third-party sources.
Information You Provide to Us
- Basic account information: When you sign up for Gripped, we collect your name, email address, and password. This applies whether you are registering as a teacher or a student.
- Profile information: You may choose to provide additional details for your public profile, such as a profile photo or a short bio. Teachers may also add information about their qualifications, teaching style, and the subjects they offer.
- Contact information: We collect your phone number and mailing address where provided. This information is used for account management, support, and payment processing purposes.
- Payment and financial information: When you participate in transactions on Gripped, we collect payment-related information. Students provide payment details (such as card information) to subscribe to classes. Teachers provide payout details (such as a connected Stripe account) to receive earnings. All payment processing is handled by Stripe. Gripped does not store raw card numbers; Stripe manages that data in accordance with its own privacy policy.
- Class and attendance information: Teachers provide details about the classes they create, including subject, schedule, pricing, and class descriptions. When a class is completed, teachers confirm student attendance, which triggers payment settlement through Stripe.
- Communications with us: When you contact us for support or otherwise communicate with us, we store a copy of those communications.
Information We Collect Automatically
- Log information: Like most online services, we collect information that web browsers, mobile devices, and servers typically make available, including browser type, IP address, unique device identifiers, language preference, referring site, date and time of access, and operating system.
- Transactional information: When payments are made or received through Gripped, we collect information about the transaction, including class details, payment amount, date, and the parties involved.
- Usage information: We collect information about how you use our Services — for example, pages viewed, features used, and actions taken such as creating a class, enrolling in a class, or confirming attendance.
- Location information: We may determine the approximate location of your device from your IP address for purposes such as regional analytics and fraud detection.
- Cookies and similar technologies: We use cookies and similar technologies to help identify and track visitors, remember your preferences, and understand how users interact with our Services. You can control cookie use through your browser settings.
Information from Third-Party Sources
- Payment processors: We receive information from Stripe related to payment transactions, including confirmation of payment success or failure, and details needed to process teacher payouts and apply our platform fee.
- Third-party login: If you choose to sign in using a third-party service (such as Google), we receive basic login information such as your name and email address from that service.
How and Why We Use Information
- To provide our Services. This includes setting up and maintaining your account, facilitating class creation and enrollment, processing attendance confirmations, transferring payments from students to teachers via Stripe, and retaining our platform fee.
- To communicate with you. We send transactional and operational emails, including class updates, enrollment confirmations, payment receipts, attendance confirmations, and account notifications. These communications are part of the Services and cannot be opted out of while you maintain an active account.
- To maintain safety and protect our platform. This includes detecting and preventing fraud, unauthorized access, and misuse of our Services, and complying with applicable legal obligations.
- To improve our Services. We analyze how users interact with Gripped to identify bugs, improve existing features, and develop new ones.
- To personalize your experience. We may use information to surface relevant classes or content based on your activity and preferences.
- To enforce our Terms of Service. Including verifying eligibility, enforcing age restrictions, and investigating potential violations.
Sharing Information
- Payment processors: We share relevant transaction information with Stripe to process payments, facilitate teacher payouts, and apply platform fees.
- Between teachers and students: When a student enrolls in a class, basic profile information (such as name) may be visible to the teacher for that class, and vice versa.
- Service providers and contractors: We may share information with third-party vendors who help us operate the platform.
- Legal and regulatory requirements: We may disclose information about you in response to a subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process.
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, user information may be transferred.
- With your consent: We may share your information with third parties when you explicitly authorize us to do so.
- Aggregated or de-identified data: We may share aggregate or anonymized data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.
Email Communications
Gripped sends emails for operational and transactional purposes, including:
- Class enrollment confirmations
- Class updates and schedule changes posted by teachers
- Attendance confirmation notifications
- Payment receipts and payout confirmations
- Account and security notifications
These operational emails are a core part of the Services. You may opt out of optional marketing or promotional communications at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions in those emails. You cannot opt out of transactional emails related to active classes or payments while your account is active.
How Long We Keep Information
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide our Services and fulfill the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law.
- Account information is retained for the duration of your account.
- Transaction and payment records are retained as required for financial, tax, and legal compliance purposes.
- Server logs are generally retained for approximately 30 days.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. All payment transactions are processed by Stripe, which maintains industry-standard PCI-DSS compliance.
Your Choices
- Update your information: You can update your account information at any time through your account settings.
- Close your account: You may close your Gripped account at any time by contacting us.
- Opt out of marketing emails: You can opt out of promotional emails at any time.
- Cookie preferences: You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
Your Rights
Residents of certain US states (including California) may have additional rights regarding their personal information, including the right to know, request deletion, request correction, and opt out of the sale of personal information. Gripped does not sell personal information.

Third-Party Services
Our Services integrate with Stripe for payment processing. When you interact with Stripe, your information is also subject to Stripe's privacy policy. Gripped does not control how Stripe handles your information, and we encourage you to review the Stripe Privacy Policy.
Privacy Policy Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on our website prior to the change becoming effective.
